And now, the latest news briefs in Baja Real Estate News: Golf course planned for Todos SantosGrupo Salas, owner of a chain of radio stations in Mexico, is planning to build a golf course and housing development called “Cala de Ulloa” in the artists’ community of Todos Santos, between Cabo San Lucas and La Paz. Golf courses have long been the major draw in tourism, so this development is expected to further amplify the area's already rapid growth in tourism. Home Depot under construction in San Jose del CaboFollowing other large chain stores, Costco and Soriana, into the Los Cabos market is Home Depot, the home improvement chain from the U.S. The chain already has broken ground on its construction site near San Jose del Cabo. The Home Depot store will be located between the developments of Cresta del Mar and El Pueblito on the four-lane highway between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Opening is expected by the end of the year. Baja California receiving large share of Federal FundsMexico's Federal tourist development agency, FONATUR, has released statistics on the recipients of its annual investments. A report issued by the agency says Baja California is receiving 20 percent of funds invested nationally by FONATUR. The agency, which has been responsible for developing such top tourist areas as Cancun and Cabo San Lucas, also reports that private investment in tourism-related activities in Baja California has climbed by 8.4 percent so far this year, indicating a high level of confidence on the part of private investors. Increase in tourism expected in La Paz this summerA significant increase in tourism in La Paz, state capital of Baja California Sur, is expected for the summer, according to the La Paz Hotel Association. The group, which manages funds generated through the hotel tax, says its investment in advertising as well as promotional efforts of private businesses is expected to attract a larger number of visitors from throughout North America and Mexico to enjoy the areas array of eco-tourist activities this summer.
