Welcome to our newsletter, Baja Real Estate News...
According to the U.S. Department of State, there are currently more than 1 million Americans living in Mexico and the National Association of Realtors reports that between 500,000 and 1,500,000 homes in our country are owned by Americans. It is important to mention that there are services that allow foreigners to acquire residential mortgages in their own country. For this purpose, there is a partnership between the associations of real estate brokers in Mexico and the United States, the NAR and the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI). Thus, out of 10 mortgage loans that are granted to foreign consumers to buy a property in Mexico, 8 are given by foreign financial institutions. Baja Real Estate News Provided Courtesy of International Land Title Bill Gates enjoys tennis at Ventanas ResortBill Gates, former chairman of Microsoft, was seen last week playing tennis at Ventanas resort. Mr. Gates recently doubled his stake in Emilio Azcarraga Jean's Grupo Televisa, through his venture capital company, Cascade Investments, LLC., thus becoming Televisa's largest foreign shareholder as of February 17th. Televisa is Mexico and Latina America's largest TV conglomerate. Coppel teams up with Ritz Carlton for new Cabo developmentErnesto Coppel, the developer of the famous Pueblo Bonito’s brand, has affiliated with Ritz Carlton, to build the new $1.5 billion dollar Quivira Resort, which will include two Jack Nicklaus signature golf courses, on 1,850 acres of land with 3 miles of beach frontage. The first phase of the luxury resort community’s infrastructure was recently completed, and crews are now working on phase two. Cabo San Lucas unaffected by border drug violenceCabo San Lucas is safe. Drug-related violence in Mexico is mostly confined to cities along the U.S. border, leaving the tourist areas (Cancun, the Mayan Riviera, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas) largely untroubled, so Mexico should receive an increasing number of U.S. vacationers. Los Cabos is fairly protected from all harm. People should use the same common sense they would use in any large cities like L.A. or New York: do not go to the dark alleys and bars alone in the middle of the night. So far, no tourist and or local people have been caught up in any Mexican violence. Strengthening dollar good for travelers to MexicoStrengthening dollar is good for travelers, and Mexico leads the list, and a vacation trip has become most affordable for U.S. travelers. The dollar is up against the peso, by 40 to 50 percent. A year or so ago, you received 10 pesos for one U.S. dollar. Today, you receive more than 15 pesos for a dollar. The Restaurant Scene Nick-San is not just the most popular sushi restaurant and bar in Los Cabos, it is recognized around the world and best defined for serving, “Stylistic Sushi and Seafood Dishes.” With a capacity of 130 patrons, Nick-San is definitely the most exquisite, open-aired, sushi restaurant and bar a person can hope to experience, at least once during a lifetime. Executive Chefs and Owners Angel Carbajal and Masayuki Niikura have distinguished themselves as true artists in the arena of culinary tourism, blending and “fusing” fine Japanese cuisine with delightfully contrasting, traditional Mexican ingredients.
